Did Digg.com Just Get A Lot Faster?

Is it just me or did Digg suddenly get a lot snappier? If you didn’t see the Digg Town Hall a little while ago, there’s a recap over at Webware but a lot of the discussion was on some problems we’ve been having with Digg lately. One of my biggest gripes has been the general speed of the site and the broken functionality that you’ll find when you start using the site for more than just reading some stories.

I looked on the Digg blog and didn’t see any mention of it but I can tell you that the site is definitely far faster than it has been in recent months. I was also pleasantly surprised yesterday when I tried to send a shout to friends and it actually worked! The shout functionality has been very hit-or-miss since it launched but it seems to be working better now. My profile page used to only load halfway as well but that seems to be fixed with the upgraded servers or more bandwidth.

At any rate, I’m pretty excited to see that some things are changing for the better over at Digg and I hope that trend continues. I wrote a post a few months ago named Nine Suggestions To Improve Digg and I am pleased to say that I can cross a couple of them off of my list.
